Attacks - to Chiavata! someone up send multiple attacks to all his isle with 1 large war ship. this way his radar goes bizerk and he hopefully ships his stonies to the wrong place or waits to long to ship them to the right place - take out the tower first to keep opponet from knowing where you are going to next - see the CAT table for needed cats to destroy lvls and flatten buildings
Deffending - Queue your resources up in ships or men or cats b/c you cant plunder the queue
Spying - if the enemy sees your spy ship it will fail - so send 1 from several diffent isles then when he asks whats up so oops and get him to tell you which isles he sees and cancel only those. theywere going to fail anyways. Thus the other make it and you get your report
i've got more and will post as i have time and i remember cmccann and bbqdwarrior work with me a lot to figure this stuff out
----------------
Additions:
Spying: I find sending 2 SWs at the same time gives success every time. You lose one warship, but you also get your espionage. Its also effective because when they see your spying they assume you only sent one, and it is failing. As a result they leave their fleet in, so you obtain an accurate report.
Attacking: It is also effective to destroy their storehouse to a low level, this way they lose resources tht werent queued, and they cant build up main houses, stone walls, or fleets.
Tip - Send SMs in with the attack and take their resources before you destroy the storehouse.
----------------
When attacking i tend to send out a fleet to attack every island he has.
I target his main island with my 2nd largest fleet - so hes got nothing to hit back with
One of his middle score islands with my main fleet just to smash it up a little bit.
The ones i wish to take from him i hit with a clearing force follwed by 2 attacks very close to each other the 2nd 1 with my coloney ship in.
and all his other islands i attack with 5 fleets all made up of 1 large warship.
While this may seem a waste of large warships it tends to fix his stoners/cats in place as most people ship them out to their weaker coloneys when they see the attacks in bound.
---------
I will usually build the colony ships close to the island I want to take, cuts down on waiting. I build 2 colony ships for every island I want to take, this way when the 1st is returning, then 2nd can go out.
I will launch the colony attempt first, with 5 Cats, then send off the spy ship(s) (once I got my spy report, I send my attack fleet, with the correct number of cats to knock main house to 1). Where there is a large gap between inital colony attempt and main attack, I will send a 2nd attack that will land just before colonisation attempt.

It's someone talking to the founder of Maharishi serinity. Forgot to post his name. I found the reference to us worthwhile and flattering. This was the alliance MotD was in.

From the Fish & Ships messageboard, perhaps useful for later.... A colony tool plus access codes I've started writing my own which can be found at: freiegeister.somee.com/inselkampf/Data is captured with a webpage stripper. For those that are interested, parse the Map page with: Isle: (?<name>[^\r\n]*)[\r\n]+Position: (?<ocean>\d+)\?<group>\d+)\?<island>\d+)[\r\n]+(Ruler: (?<ruler>[^\r\n]*)[\r\n]+)*(Alliance: \[(?<alliance>[^\r\n]*)\][\r\n]+)*Score: (?<score>[^\r\n]*)[\r\n]+Colony: (?<colony>[YesNo]*) Raw xml data (~5.5Mb) is here: freiegeister.somee.com/inselkampf/data/map.xml
