Hmmm, I see what you're saying, but if one lord can be a blocker why not a caravan? I think this is something that could be exploited and take away from the gameplay. I don't think anyone would want to slog thir way through half a dozen caravans between Kor and Ushgarak to find the citadel empty. Another potential exploit. If a caravan can seek then why not send the empty ones to the nearest tower. Enough caravans and you could track every move of your opponent. You could also use them as spies, popping in and out of a forest to see what's around before hiding again. For the purists sake, would it be possible to turn caravans on or off when creating a game? Personally I like the idea.

Cough, cough. I hate to ask this, but... It's not a problem. I would have done so already, but didn't know how they worked. It would have saved me calculating the new sizes. I'll get them done for you tomorrow.

Great gfx, Bill. A bit smallish for a caravan, but look good. Not a bit like my armies! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D They absolutely follow exactly the same principle as your armies. The whole point was to retain consistency. As to size, they're bigger than they look. You're seeing them head-on, so the large caravan has five wagons moving abreast, the rest of the caravan following behind. That was always the problem with visualising the caravans in billboard mode: you can't show them side-on. That wouldn't work. But the truth is I only did them because no one else bothered to, so that J-Y would have something he can use. If anyone wants to do some better ones I don't mine having mine replaced at all.

Hey, hey. It was an obvious joke! Not irony, just joke. That's because we're always thinking of caravans as those in western movies... I was thinking more of a spiraly, crescenty look, like the original LOM graphic, or on the "dawn" screen of M/MU. That way you can get both depth and width, especially if few wagons are added. Unfortunately, I'm not much of an artist either, I thought you are...

Bill, would you be interested and/or free enough to do the same for a pair of citadels?

Hey, hey. It was an obvious joke! Not irony, just joke. I know. I was just saying that if someone a bit more talented could do some better gfx, I have no objection to having mine replaced, that's all. Not necessarily. The "covered wagon" style graphic was chosen, deliberately, so that the wagons would be visible above the guards surrounding the caravan. I see. Well, that's beyond my efforts, I think. I'm also not sure it would work very well. Not in the least. All my graphics are the result of clipart, image processing, and a little pixel-level touching up.

Not necessarily. The "covered wagon" style graphic was chosen, deliberately, so that the wagons would be visible above the guards surrounding the caravan. Sounds reasonable. Not that much "bended" in perspective, but more like one-point (or three-point, depends on how you look at it) perspective, with horizon point in center. But, you pointed it correctly - it wouldn't look well with current army gfx... Yeah, same here...

No sorry, I can't upload it until I upload the whole new release since it now has code to exclude caravans from combat .
I'm just waiting for Chris to update the DB with a small change, and then all the scripts and carvan gfx will be uploaded.
If Chris is away/too busy I'll write a script to do the update and run that tomorrow.

Apologies Bill, I meant to reply once I'd looked at them, but have yet to open the zip as I spent the weekend away in Worcester watching Worcester vs Bath rugby and getting pished with my bro-in-law ( a Worcester man) Slow recovery yesterday, late into work today. It's the traffic, honest, honest... Will take a look asap.

Just seen them. Great, spot on. Thanks I hope to upload the new "Caravans" release today (minus the No-Disease option, which I'll start work on next)
