Here is a first stab at the new text version of the battle history report. As you can see, it's far more concise than the original text reports, and hopefully a lot better than the tabular report that is currently in place. I would appreciate comments/suggestions before releasing it to the live server (it needs more vigorous testing first anyway). .

A few requests/questions: This method doesn't distinguish between enemy riders and warriors when listing the casualties, and since Stevie only commands riders I can't tell if the same goes for friendly casualties. Could I see an example of how a mixed army is reported? Likewise, even if Stevie is fighting three enemies, 'she' is alone. Will the total below also give a total of all allies fighting in the square, as well as the lord in question's personal total? And how about reporting the previous days' fighting? Will there still be a buffer of the previous day's fighting so you can check for any changes? BTW, of the tree enemies; Garrison, JeanYves and Valista, I can conclude with absolute certainty that Valista is the only lord with a mixed army of both riders and warriors, even if the report mentions nothing of the sort. Do you know how I can know this?

Well, you can't describe all the information in detail in verbose form, because it will soon become unreadable.
My suggestion si to keep the summary verbose form as above (I'll look at the details shortly as I have a terrible toothache at the moment and can't concentrate) and also provide a drill-down link to the existing tabular form which provides all the nitty-gritty detail one needs.
The other suggestion is to summarise the lords killed on both sides on the battle at the end (if any).

Yes, I was thinking of a drill down to the tabular report. Actually I would implement it as "tabs" on the page, one with "Summary" and the other with "Detail", basically reloading the appropriate page as required.
Mads, hope this covers your concerns. I decided to remove the detail of what type of unit did what damage to what other type of unit since at the end of the day you know what you have left, and how much they have left if they are still around. I suppose that you may want to know whether they still have warriors as this affects speed, but the "tabs" should allow this anyway.
As for Valista. I imagine that the higher kill rate is the clue?

In the end, I've made it a new button next to the close button at the foot of the page. Quicker to do.
I might need to implement an iframe for better useability during large scale battles, but for the moment it'll do.

As for Valista. I imagine that the higher kill rate is the clue? Sort of. Stevie herself killed 2 enemies, and since any non-special lords with the current battle algorithm only kill one rider and one warrior per turn of battle, without exceptions, it can be so deduced. This is not the right thread for this question, but , anyway, is that intentional?

Actually, the data was frigged so that I could test for a victory! The garrison is still very much alive, I simply changed the status on the battle record from C (Continue) to V (Victory).
No, the 1R/1W is not intentional. I'll look into that. Thanks.

It's not working properly on live. Why? It's the exact same code and exact same database... Different PHP versions? Maybe some scripts were not correctly uploaded. I am investigating.

Should now be working - please report back if not (it's not my turn in any games, so I'll check myself once "Nah!" is passed to me again)

I like it. Saves me adding up the columns and writing my own summary to keep track of a battle.

I saw it today, first thing after my glorious comeback. I am impressed, it looks very nice and functions even better.

I'd still like to see full battle totals (as opposed to individual lord's battle totals).
We still have to add up the totals separately to get an overall picture of the whole battle and to determine who took part and who might have died on either side.

This is not the right thread for this question, but , anyway, is that intentional? I've noticed this too. It seems to be one rider and/or one warrior per lord fought. I can't see any reason why it should work this way.
