I wonder if anyone reads the journals of games which are finished?
I notice not many people write in them and those who do only usually put notes in like "Shadows can be found in the Forest of Shadows" and stuff like that.
I do write a lot in my journals, partly to remind me what I'm doing in the game and partly to make an interesting story later on - well, sometimes it's interesting! ;D
I think this is a great feature we should all utilise to it's full potential, fill up JY webspace as fast as possible! ;D
Seriously JY is there a limit to journal sizes?

I used it a lot when we started out, but lately I'm exactly like you say, I only use it to save good guidiance in long games. Mainly I can remember what's going on in the games, and other people would only get anything from it if I use my third language, English, instead of languages that comes more easily to me. But that aside, you have some pretty funny journals from time to time

OK Bagpuss, I'm going to do a journal every day for our new game, hope you do likewise. The journals for our last game made quite good reading. Only problem I have is I can't do more than one journal entry at work per day due to cacheing issues. ;D

I did it all for your sake Perhaps you can write up the journals with mention of the relevant day in a simple .txt file and then copy then in your journal back home when it's your turn again? Not perfect, I know, but a way to work around it for now.

I have the same problem and that workds for me.

Seriously JY is there a limit to journal sizes? The data type is TEXT, which is VAST. So go ahead and write War and Peace. Techie bit: Does anybody know the overhead of a TEXT type field? Is the whole amount used when a record is created, or does it adjust its size dynamically

Is the whole amount used when a record is created, or does it adjust its size dynamically I think the record gets assigned a number field (32/64bit) and then the memo/text is elsewhere as a dynamic blob.

So the overhead is quite low then? Good news.

Is sometime next week possible? I'd like to have a chance to go over it for an accuracy check and have it ready by the end of September.
I can update the existing manual if you don't have time, so don't panic!

For someone who doesn't like deadlines you are a sadist! ;D I'm going abroad on a well earned holiday for two weeks on Weds but I will see what I can do before then, no promises though! ;D Do you want it translating into French, High Elvish, Fey and Midnight-Speak as well? ;D

I have wondered many a time what sort of language the people of Midnight (Free, I mean) would speak...
