Since Matija flamed me for not being historically/heraldically correct, I made a little research myself. And learned a lot of heraldry in the process. So, I made a set of 24 different heraldically correct vectored shield templates and will put their bitmaps on The Lair ASAP (as I'm having problems displaying gfx here). Here's the list with original nomenclature: - clear
- fess
- chequy
- chief
- pale
- pale dexter
- base
- cross
- saltire
- pall
- bend
- bend sinister
- chevron
- tierced in pairle
- pale and chief
- per fess
- per fess dancetty
- per pale
- per chevron
- per chevron reversed
- per cross
- per saltire
- per bend
- per bend sinister
If this wasn't enough, I roamed all over the Net to find real shield decorations and found a few hundred originals, which are free(!!!). Decorations vary from lions, dragons, tigers and eagles to gauntlets, swords, axes and portcullises. Many animals and monsters are in various positions. Original nomenclature: - rampant
- rampant regardant
- rampant combatant
- passant
- salient
- courant
- statant
- sejant
- sejant regardant
- sejant erect
- trippant
- erect
- volant
- head erased
- head couped
- head caboshed
- ...
Hope you'll like them. If they're not there yet, check for them later.

Very nice. Will you be putting the vector templates up too?

Very nice. Will you be putting the vector templates up too? Probably. Bloodmarch needs a shield redesign, perhaps? ;D ;D

Probably. Bloodmarch needs a shield redesign, perhaps? ;D ;D ;D In good time it will need lots and lots of contributions, but I don't really expect any until I've proved that it's worth the effort. However, implementing vector shields as opposed to bitmaps from the start may be worth doing (though I can use my own efforts for this anyway, since the shields don't have to look good *g*) What I was thinking of is that having heraldrically correct shields and decorations would allow people to design their own. A Shield Creation Kit, as it were. (never mind me, I'm just thinking aloud...)

Unfortunately, just shields are vectors. Decorations are bitmaps. They can be relatively easy traced, though.

Igor, it wasn't meant that seriously, but now that I see the results, I'm not even the littlest bit sorry that you took it that way. ;D

So far it only does original LoM shields and has an overlay to give a curved effect and some alternative backgrounds with a lighting effect. Simply choose your layers and Export for Web. Need to add additional motifs and make the LoM ones smoother for a start. Any takers? www.kmodesign.com/mul/s_lords.zip

All the templates are online. Maybe I'll put some more decorations soon. Don't wanna show too much. There are too many dragon lovers in these areas...
